Vic’s Realistic Performance Almost Injured Li Bin Bin

Vic Chou’s first movie “Linger” was directed by Johnny To, co-staring Li-bin-bin. In this movie, Vic’s character contradicts his usual polite image on camera; he would get agitated very easily and would even get physical in an argument with his girl-friend, almost tearing her jacket apart.

Among fellow members in “F4”, Vic is the last one appearing on the big screen. Nevertheless, he was fortunate to have worked with a great director like Johnny To in his debut movie “Linger” by Sun Dream Productions. Vic felt much honored to debut in To’s movie; among various reasons was that his number one Idol – Andy Lau, often works with Johnny To. Vic’s favorite movie of Andy Lau was “暗戰”, also directed by To. In this movie, Vic’s fans could really look forward to a different Vic much unlike the usual pop star Vic Chou.

Vic and co-star Lin-bin-bin played two lovers who appear constantly at odds and would fight at all time. In a scene before the fatal accident, Vic’s character, Dong, got into a serious argument with Li’s character. Before rolling the camera, To coached Vic on how to act out the character’s anger and agitation when grabbing Li’s tank top. When shooting the scene, Vic was completely fused in the character; as if he was possessed, Vic violently grabbed Li, almost lifting her off the ground. To reportedly was satisfied with his performance after just one shot. Li warily stated, “I was stunned…Vic looks so bashful and quiet so I really couldn’t have imagined his acting violently. The tank top was torn, and my arm hurt…it’s bruised now!”

Vic, whose great performance was acknowledged, humbly talked about his character in “Linger”: Dong is a young man with a temper who gets easily agitated in his relationship with Li Bin Bin’s character. “I really love Bin Bin in this movie but my poor temper causes a lot of conflicts between us. At the same time I would also be nice and sweet to her….it almost sounds like I’m a psycho!” Besides fighting scenes, there’s also an intimate scene of the lovers. “Linger” will premiere on Jan 10; Vic may come to Hong Kong for promotion in early December.

Rising Japanese Actress Erika Toda secretly came to Taiwan for shooting of her new movie: “Tea Fight”, a joint project by Japanese and Taiwanese production companies. The production companies had kept a low profile on the Taiwanese co-star. Our news crew followed the production staff to the shooting site yesterday and surprisingly discovered that this movie will feature Vic Chou, along with another renowned Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang.

In yesterday’s shooting, Vic wore a long blue overcoat and looked as though he was a maestro in the art of tea serving (cha-dou). His assistants were attentive in ensuring Vic was not bothered by mosquitoes or over-exposure under the sun.

By late afternoon, the crew moved to another site for a different scene. During breaks, Vic and Erika took a brief recess in the resting area at the site, while Zhang chatted with the director.

Erika’s shooting was done shortly after recess and left. Vic and Tsang continued shooting while the staff was busy with controlling the flow of people and preventing reporters from taking pictures.

The story of “Tea Fight” is about the quest for the “Tea of Phantom”. The owner of the tea house and his daughter went to Taiwan to seek the legendary tea. The movie will be shot in Japan and Taiwan; it is targeted for wrap-up by March and may premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May

The style of Vic’s character in this movie is like a cross-over between ancient and Japanese styles. His agent Wang was not willing to comment on the project citing contractual terms and agreements with the production company. Vic’s current project, tourism drama “Wish to See You Again”, is currently put on-hold. Wang indicated that Vic will return to the drama crew in half a month.

Tsai’s (Director of Meteor Garden I/II, MARS) newest project "Ruffian Hero" has secured Vic as the leading character. In addition, Tsai has his eyes set on Won Bin, a famous Korean actor. Reportedly Won Bin has declined but Tsai indicated he would keep trying.

Tsai revealed that Vic’s schedule has been secured for Ruffian Hero but the actor for the other leading role ( Vic is supposed to be this "ruffian" ) symbolizing "hero" has yet been found. The number one candidate is Won Bin, who reportedly is demanding up to 500,000 NT per episode, higher than Vic’s payroll of 10,000 USD per episode. However, Won Bin appeared to have a conflict with the shooting schedule of Ruffian Hero but Tsai indicated he’ll not give up and is now trying to convince Won Bin personally.

Sho Zhe Kai (Taye in MARS) will also star in this new drama.

In addition to the other leading male character, Tsai is also looking for the actress fitted to the leading female role. He had previously considered inviting Japanese actresses; to this he commented: “I have thought about seeking a Japanese actress but I couldn’t find a suitable candidate. The ideal candidate needs to fit the image of the female character who possesses breathtaking features and an angel-like face. I’m now considering to pick the candidate from etiher Taiwanese actresses or perhaps I’ll select from an online tournament."

TV Game Show "Guess What" invited Vic Chou, who is promoting his newly released album "I'm Not F4" as a guest star; among his co-stars was idol group "K-ONE" who just released a best-select album, fans supporting Vic and K-ONE brought along the necessities to support their idols and they turned the shooting site to a gun-fire prompt site.

Wu then said, "I was referring to the Female F4!"

Another climax happened when Vic was introduced. Wu asked Vic to sing live and unplugged; Vic decided to play a prank and instead sang a song in Taiwanese (which was sung by Wu a few minutes ago). One of the hostess joked, "Did you do this in front of S?"

In one part of the show five beautiful nurses were invited on stage. When asked what his impression was on nurses, Vic confessed that he onced dated a nurse who often showed up at a date wearing a uniform and gown with smell of medicine and disinfectants. Because she was so busy with work, they didn't get to date for very long before they broke up.

Zai Zai missed the simple life as a student. He said that he and Da S had once wanted to put off all their work and "go around" (ie run away). Director Tsoi invites Fukuyama Masaharu to act with Zai Zai

The well beloved idol Fukuyama Masaharu may come to Taiwan and act with Zai Zai! Director Tsoi went to Japan in preparation for the drama "Ruffian Hero" last month and went to Fuji Television, and watched the shooting of the Japanese drama "Detective Galileo". Director Tsoi said, "Ruffian Hero" is an entertaining action drama, Zai Zai's role is a Ruffian policeman who dressed extravagently and went to work in Porsche, but then he was very timid, and very much like a much more handsome version of Stephen Chow, completely different from his previous acting which were more reserved. But the leading female role for Zai Zai has not been confirmed yet, interviews will be made recently with Bianca Bai, Tiffany Hui, Yang Ya Zhu etc to find the suitable candidate.

Zai Zai went for recording at [I Love Black Society] on Channel [V] is going to pick out his desired perfect lover. In order to be made Zai's desired lover, all the girls went all out: dancing, Wu Shu performance, playing musical instruments and some even take F4 out/mimicked F4, and this made Zai, who was watching, very happy.

Zai Zai and Vanesse are shooting the Tourist Board drama "Waiting For you Here" in Dan Xui. The crew borrowed a Lamgohrgini race car, valued nearly NT20,000,000, Zai Zai who loved cars so much was so high the whole morning that he didn't need a sub but he drove the car himself with a high speed of 140km/hour.

After his car accident on the highway, Zai Zai had obviously refrained from high-speed driving. This time he had an legitimate reason to drive high speed because of the shooting. Yesterday he practically stuck to the race car for the whole time, and even the crew said, "He was really in a good mood, he's even discussing cars with the director and Vanese during breaks."

Men's Uno invited Vic chow and Patty Hau to become cover of their October issue, when being asked about the relationship between gourmet and love, Vic said, Love, like gourmet, need to be just right!

Vic Chow, who's being chased by the media for issues on his army duty, talked about relationship between love and gourmet, he said "Both need to be just right, it cannot be too sweet, the taste cannot be too heavy, temperature cannot be too hot, it's just like serving the dishes, there is a certain procedure and order."

Before shooting "Sweet Relationship", Vic said he could only cook instant noodles and fry eggs, at most beef with green pepper. In order to shoot "Sweet Relationship", he learnt authentic French cooking for a month. Remembering that in the past when he went to have meals in high-class restaurants, he never really noticed details such as the differences between use of ingredients, settings and waiter services with those of normal restaurants, perhaps it was because he was not that picky on eating.

On the day of shooting of the cover, Vic looks very active and like himself, "It's just because of the role I'm shooting, I can at anytime "self- high", it doesn't matter if I act a little bit crazy."

Not dare to drive Lamborghini
Vic is talking his role in the Tourist Board drama "Waiting for you here". In the drama he was a novel writer who had lost his inspiration, a little bit autistic and feel a little bit of self- abased in his surrounding, he only wanted to publich novels anonynimously, apart from his normal job, he went to drive taxis for some reasons. I can do whatever I want, I can even shout during shooting and no one is going to stop me.

Vic Chow borrowed a Lamborghini from a friend for shooting, but he didn't dare to drive it. "If the team set up cameras or lightings in the car, it defintely will hurt the car. In the end, the moving scenes are all driven by my friend, and I only shoot the stable scenes or open/close doors, in any event I have never owned a Lomborghini."

Headache on his pimples problem
He worsened his health ten years ago when shooting "MARS" (NOTE: Wrong info!!!!), conditions such as getting fat and having pimples continued to happen. Zai Zai feel more headache on his pimple problem, and will use pimple plasters before sleep. Nevertheless, even though he is with Da S, his main attitude towards skin care is more on the basics and make-up removals.

It has been 3 years since his previous album “Remember I Love U”. These few years, he was busy starring in a few drama series. This year, his management company has finally scheduled for him to release his new album. After being informed, Zai enthusiastically participated in producing of the album. Once, he met Jay Chou at an event, and jokingly told Jay: “I’m preparing for my new album, help me write a song.” Didn’t expect Jay Chou to agree and not long after, he received a demo “I’m not F4”.

It is not easy to invite Jay Chou to write song for other singers, he must have “feel” to do so. This song that Jay wrote for Zai, seems that Jay has his own opinion about F4’s Zaizai prince charming image. At the beginning, everyone thought Jay Chou was joking, Zaizai is F4, why did he say he’s not? The curious Zai immediately listened to the demo. Lyrics were incomplete in the demo, only at the chorus section, using his signature vocals and cool style Jay sang “I’m not F4”.

What is Vic like? The melancholy and charming Hua Ze Lei in Meteor Garden, the comical and suave Tai Lang in Poor prince, the young manager Qi Wei Yi in Silence or the cold faced cook Zhi Tian in Sweet Relationship? A member of Asia superstar idol boy group F4, or the idol singer who sings “Make A Wish”, “Remember I Love U” affectionately?

For the past 3 years, Zai acted in a few popular drama series “Mars”, “Silence”, “Sweet Relationship”. He has gained experience from dramas, in love life, friendships, as well as his personal life. Through these experiences, Zai has matured and changed. Looking at performances in the dramas, not only has his mandarin improved, he can fully portray the characters successfully. Vic says: “F4 is a character in Meteor Garden, it’s also the group which I was born. But one can’t always live in a past character. I have worked hard and concentrate in production of this album, hoping that from the songs, people won’t only hear F4, but also more that u didn’t know, the most genuine Vic Chou. ”

With the album’s 1st single “I’m not F4”, Zai in a mature gentlemen manner tells the gals” I’m not a born charmer. Towards love, it does not need a superstar identity, juz need to work hard to maintain, and be a commoner in each others heart, using actions to protect each other and to move your lover’s heart.

Interestingly, after listening to the complete version of the song many people didn’t realize it’s written by Jay Chou. Previously, it’s a challenge for other singers to sing song written by Jay without being influenced by him. Vic has broken this spell and displays an innocent and sincere side of him, without imitating others singing style nor acting cool, and sings out his own style naturally. Letting us feel that this song belongs to Vic Chou and not Jay Chou.

Zai Zai invited Jay to write a song for him

Zai Zai is going to release his album in later October. He asked to work with Jay Chou, and Jay wrote the song "I'm not F4" especially for him. The song completely revolt agaist Zai's image as "Prince Charming" in the past, the lyrics were even being sarcastic on the "strong female weak male" relationship betwen Da S and Zai, making Zai keep saying "that's really mean!"

Chou's style of humour entertained Zai Zai
Zai Zai and Jay knew each other for both had been spokesperson for Pepsi, when Jay learnt that Zai asked him to write a song, he agreed immediately. After two months he gave out "I'm not F4", the demo contains the usual Jay style humour, the first line "Listen carefully, Vic Chow", already made Zai Zai roared with laughter. Zai Zai said, "this song is really cool, no one else could write this except Jay, but it's so mean!" Da S also think this song is good and suitable for Zai Zai to sing.

New version lyrics being sarcastic on pronunciation
Zai Zai haven't released a new album for more than 3 years, and he wanted to breakthough his fixed image as a member of F4, but the management company still thinks it need to fit the overall image of Zai Zai, therefore, the lyrics have been changed to give it more warmth, but the overall theme "I'm not F4" is still maintained.

In the new version, Zai Zai sang "I'm not everyone's sweetheart, and I don't have charming accent, I just want to be a normal person in your heart", no more mention of girlfriend Da S, instead being sarcastic on his own pronunciation.

Immediate good cooperation with Lam Mai Hor
Jay hold an open attitutde towards the new lyrics, his only request is to give this song to Lam Mai Hor to produce, whom he had worked with for many years, Zai of course obliged and worked really well with Lam Mai Hor. When he knew that Jay had worked with Lam Mai Hor to finish the demo of "I'm not F4", Jay laughed "So you made that mean demo together!"

Zai Zai Evading Military Service ?

Zai Zai, a member of F4, has been recently in a lot of news by the media about his drastic weight loss and that he is suffering from depression. And now, his depression has been linked to his military service.

From what its known, ZZ has applied from exemption from military service due to suffering from depression from Taipei district military unit. Zai Zai went to hospital to get his medical report stating that he is suffering from depression. But as the Taipei district military unit knew that Zhou Yu Min is Zai Zai, they rejected the medical report and wanted Zai Zai to go to another hospital for testing. Instead of doing so , Zai Zai changed his domicile residence from Taipei to Geelung and submiited his application for military service exemption to Geelung district military unit. He was successful in getting his exemption. After that, Zai Zai changed his domicile residence back again to Taipei.

From what its known, Zai Zai's real name is not so known in other districts, so his application for exemption was not vetted as thoroughly, thereby making it easier for him to be successful in his application and so he was able to evade military service.

When Geelung district mitary unit was suspected to be lax in processing his application, its spokeswoman said that Zai Zai didnt submit his application personally, it was delegated to someone else, so they didnt know that it was Zai Zai. And that the officer-in-charge did not know about the changing of domicile address from Taipei to Geelung.

When Zai Zai's agent was contacted on this matter, she replied that she is not clear on this & as such could not reply.

So whether Zai Zai is deliberately trying to evade his military service, only he knows the truth.

Vic Chou's roundabout way to escape army

Taipei-Doubts about Vic Chou's military service status have been cleared.

The singer of boyband F4 got himself exempted last year on grounds of depression, but via a circuitous route.

Questions were raised last week when actor Joe Cheng told reporters that he was curious why Chou has not been called up for military service even though he left college earlier this year.

China Times investigated and citing an unnamed souce, said Chou, 26, switched his household registration from Taipei to the north-eastern city of Keelung, and then applied successfully for exemption via Keelung.

The newspaper said that in 2001, Chou had cited suspected depression when requesting for a military service physical examination in Taipei.

His request was turned down although he paid for and got a letter from the Taipei Veterans General Hospital certifying that he was depressed.

Last year in March, he registered at Keelung and successfully used the same letter to be granted exemption. Last month, he switched his household registration back to Taipei city.

Keelung authorities appearently learnt about Chou's exemption after media stories about his conscription ran this week. Officials got a phone call from the defence ministry and learnt that the singer escaped notice as he had used his real name in the Keelung application.

Also, nobody knew he applied for it as his application was sent in by his family members.

A spokesman for military conscription in Keelng said Chou had medical grounds for exemption as he was treated for his illness for a year, according to his medical letter.

In November, Chou;s exemption became official after a central committe approved it.

Asked abt the matter, his maager would only say: "I don't know. I can't say."
