Zai Zai Vic Zhou is going to release an album in October, he took the initiative suggesting he wanted to work with Jay Chou, Director Chou wrote a song especially for him (I Am Not F4), subversion of Zai Zai's past image as Prince Charming, the nonsensical lyrics satirize the "strong female weak male" relationship between Zai Zai and Dai S, it made Zai Zai say it was "very cheap" when he heard it.
Zai Zai and Jay Chou got to know each other when they were both spokespersons for Pepsi, when Jay Chou found out Zai Zai was inviting him to write a song, he accepted straight away, after 2 months he handed in the new song (I Am Not F4), the demo was full of humour Jay Chou style, the first line "Vic Zhou, have a good listen", made Zai Zai laugh out loud. Zai Zai smiled saying: "The whole song is very diao, if it wasn't Jay Chou I don't think anyone could write it, but it's too cheap!" And Dai S also thought it was good, very suitable for Zai Zai to sing.
Zai Zai hasn't released an album for 3 years, he hopes he can break through everyone's preset impression of him as a member of F4, but his agent company still think they need to match Zai Zai's whole image, thus they changed the lyrics, to a warm route, but they still kept the name "I Am Not F4".
In the new version's lyrics, Zai Zai sings to the part "I am not a superstar, and I don't have a charming accent, I only hope to be an ordinary person in your heart", he doesn't mention his girlfriend Dai S anymore, instead ridicules his own pronunciation.
And Jay Chou had an open attitude on the new lyrics, all he asked for was that this song to be produced by Michael Lin who he has worked with for many years, Zai Zai immediately clicked with Michael Lin. When he found out Jay Chou and Michael Lin both helped to complete the "I Am Not F4" demo, Zai Zai laughed saying: "So both of you made that cheap cheap demo!'
