Last month, sources from Jerry already confirmed to discard his casting in the new drama. However, drama producer Feng Jia Rui repeated appeals gained momentum so that Wu Zun and Jerry will have a chance to be together.
For half a year now, after Jerry and Wu Zun was tapped for the lead roles in "Basketball of Fire," constant crisis went underway which included rumors on Jerry's choice for his leading lady Lin Yi Chen who was no longer avaiable and the very young role would no longer suit him. After he decided to turn down the role, there are rumors the "Xiao Zhu" Luo Zhi Xiang will replace Jerry for the role but the start of the shooting was long delayed.
After Jerry has officially turned down the role last early September, he left for Japan to promote "The Hospital." According to reports, producer Feng Jia Rui went with Jerry in that trip, in high faith to convince Jerry, and even offered him his own terms.
Jerry's original role should have been that of the funny man Yin Mu Hua while Wu Zun's role is similar to the serious man Liu CHuan Feng. Because the funny role really don't match with Jerry's image, the drama team wanted to switch their roles, allowing Jerry to take the serious character. They will then plan another role again for Wu Zun. When Jerry still seemed not accepting the role, they agreed to change the script and maybe ask him to just guest star.
Because Jerry was in Hong Kong to meet with (Stanley Kwan) Guan Jin Peng, Wong Kar Wai (Wang Jia Wei), etc. the other day, his next year's center of attention could be movies, and it's possible he won't have time to do idol dramas. But because the drama group nowadays is highly sincere, Jerry is seriously thinking on returning to the "basketball arena." His agent Matt Cheng softly said, "I have not heard that, I don't have the answer."
